The 2007 Jimbo Wales video appeared on Wikipedia on 2007-10-23. In the video, Jimbo Wales explains that as founder of Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation needs donations in order to develop Wikimedia projects more thoroughly in different languages. The video sets out the project's missions and shows Wales speaking to people in several countries including India and South Africa, showing how people in such countries utilise Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects as a source of knowledge where knowledge is not readily available otherwise.
