Himsa - (Sanskrit: हिंसा) ~ Violence or Injury.^[2]
Virodhi Himsa is the kind of injury which is necessarily committed in defense. (Protective Violence-Defensive Injury)
Adhyatma - (Sanskrit: अध्यात्म) is Adhi+Atman, which means, "to know one´s self". (Science of Mind)^[3]
Virodhi Himsa Adhyatma - "Protective Violence ~ Science of Mind" Injury generated by standing in opposition to an enemy.

Similar to the Sramanic practice of Yoga, this ancient Sramanic philosophy has been in existence for thousands of years. It has survived in Buddhist, Jain, and other Sramanic Schools. This philosophy was often used by the lay supporters to protect person and property, against any enemies.

The Successor of Virodhi Himsa Adhyatma is Rishi (ऋषि) Burgess. He is the founder of the Virodhi Himsa Adhyatma Association and is notable for sharing Virodhi Himsa Adhyatma around the world.

Virodhi Himsa Adhyatma applies ancient philosophies to a modern combat system based on survival techniques and right mind. The protective arts, known as C.O.R.E. are instructed by Rishi Burgess.

Belt Ranking System
The belief is that a human is a combination of five aggregates (khandhas) , namely body or form, feelings, perceptions, mental formations or thought process, and consciousness. The belt ranking system incorporates these aggregates respectively as "Matter", "Sensations", "Perceptions", "Mental Formations", and "Consciousness".

Students start with the rank of white belt representing "Matter". They progress to having a gold stripe added representing "Sensations". The rest of the "student" rankings in order are green and blue stripes until they receive their initial black belt. Their initial black belt will have a stripe for each of the previous levels; white, gold, green, and blue.

Black belts next available ranking is their instructor level. Once they have received instructor status they will have earned a red stripe, signifying "conduct" on their belt. Eventually, one who has earned top recognition underneath the Rishi, is said to be a senior instructor and a white stripe representing "knowledge" is added.

The Rishi is the only one who holds an additional stripe which is orange.
